Nick Whalen's Like and Spike for Week 7
Jared Goff @ ATL
The Falcons defense is the key to solving any offensive issues. It’s like duct tape for any problem in your home, but this is Fantasy Football. Well the Rams have lots of issues and Goff is in for a big week.
Russell Wilson vs BAL
Deshaun Watson @ IND
Matt Ryan vs LAR
These three players need to be grouped together due to past performances. The last two weeks these quarterbacks have been on fire. Wilson has scored 7, Watson 8, and Ryan 8 touchdowns!!! This week, these players face defenses, whom are middle of the road. This shouldn’t deter the hot streak. Just like in vegas, let em ride!
Kirk Cousins @ DET
Last week, Kirk Cousins and the Vikings passing game had many huge plays! The past two weeks have much better production than the previous four games. But the efficiency of these games isn’t sustainable, especially at 79% completion rate and a 6:1 TD to INT ratio. The Lions have played good overall football this season, Cousins is on the road, and I expect his numbers to dip this week.
Jimmy Garoppolo @ WAS
As much as Jimmy Garoppolo looks like an easy play this week, I wouldn’t expect a big week. In his last three games, Garoppolo has thrown for three combined touchdowns. During the 2019 season, he has only thrown two or more touchdowns twice and thrown for 250 yards or more twice. The 49ers offense has been awesome, but Garoppolo hasn’t benefited his FF owners.
Sam Darnold vs NE
This one may seem obvious, but it needs repeating. The Patriots defense this season has been elite. Despite playing solid last week, Darnold still has rust in his game from missing 4 weeks of the NFL season. If you don’t see it, Bill Belichick will. Pivot from Darnold this week.
Josh Jacobs @ GB
The Oakland Raiders ran all over the elite Chicago Bears run defense the last time they played football. Now they face a vulnerable run defense in Green Bay, which has been the key to defeating that team. I expect lots of opportunities for Jacobs.
Leonard Fournette @ CIN
Fournette has 20 or more rushing attempts each of the last three games, along with more than 3 receptions. Opportunity is huge for RB production and this week Fournette faces the very easy Bengals defense.
Phillip Lindsay vs KC
Lindsay has been rolling lately and had good production in three of his last four games. Denver has used him more this season, which helps insulate his value. Kansas City has a soft defense and will help Lindsay flourish for fantasy owners.
LeVeon Bell vs NE
Bell only has one game of over 100 total yards in 2019. His main FF production has been through the passing game. However, facing the top defense in football won’t yield great results this week.
Todd Gurley/Malcolm Brown/Darrell Henderson @ ATL
The Falcons defense is bad, but better against the run. Gurley and Brown have injury designations, so wait to see how this works out with the inactive list. We also don’t know how the touches in this backfield will be dispersed. As juicy as this matchup appears, it carries big risk as well.
Kerryon Johnson vs MIN
Johnson only has one game with over 90 total yards on the season. He hasn’t been efficient on the ground and only nine receptions on the year. The Vikings have a good defense and haven’t allowed lots of FF points to RBs.
Michael Gallup vs PHI
The Eagles defense is one of the worst against the pass and leaves lots of FF points for opponents. Cowboy WR’s Amari Cooper and Randall Cobb are injured and missed practice this week. Gallup is the main beneficiary and an easy play this week if those WRs don’t play.
John Brown vs MIA
Brown hasn’t had less than 50 yards receiving in any game this season. He’s shown good rapport with QB Josh Allen all over the field. Brown has an injury designation this week, so please check his status going into the game this week. But Brown faces one of the softest pass defenses in the NFL and the worst team, Washington.
Tyler Lockett vs BAL
Seattle lost a rising pass catching TE last week in Will Dissly. Lockett hasn’t received more than 5 targets in any game each of the last three weeks. But the loss of Dissly leaves targets and volume for Lockett. He’s the WR10 on the season and one of the most efficient WRs in the entire NFL.
Terry McLaurin vs SF
McLaurin has performed very well in Washington this year. But the quarterback situation is a mess and they face the hottest defense in the NFL in the 49ers. Pivot away from McLaurin if you can.
Allen Robinson vs NO
Marshon Lattimore has been shutting down top WR’s at an amazing rate lately. This week he faces a starting Quarterback in Mitchell Trubisky who has missed multiple games and will have some rust as well. Not a good combination for great FF results.
Keenan Allen @ TEN
Keenan Allen has looked mortal the last three weeks. He hasn’t reached 50 receiving yards in a single game and his targets have significantly decreased. The Titans pass defense has been stellar if you needed more reason to avoid Allen this week.
Austin Hooper vs LAR
The streak Austin Hooper is on has been simply incredible. I like him against this week against the Rams who have a jumbled up secondary.
Evan Engram vs AZ
Engram may be the most athletic TE in the NFL. He faces the worst pass defense in terms of defending TE’s in the NFL. Swipe Right.
Hunter Henry @ TEN
While Keenan Allen is a spike this week, Henry enjoyed a great comeback game last week. Keep riding that momentum as the Titans don’t defend TE’s nearly as well.
Darren Waller @ GB
Waller is fresh off a brand new contract extension. But faces a tough secondary and his production has decreased the last two weeks.
Eric Ebron vs HOU
Ebron has yet to hit 50 yards receiving in a game this season. The only time he’s reached double digits in FF has been the two games he’s scored a touchdown. This week he faces one of the toughest defenses for TE’s to produce FF points.
Delanie Walker vs LAC
Walker hasn’t produced well the last three weeks. The change at quarterback could give him hope, but he had rapport with Marcus Mariota, not Ryan Tannehill. Wait and see how this situation plays out.
